Lower Hope Gardens are privately owned by Mr and Mrs Clive Richards. The gardens are open to the public for the National Garden Scheme and other charities each year.
The well tended gardens span 5 acres facing South and West consisting of herbaceous borders, rose walks, laburnum tunnel, Mediterranean, bog and Italian Gardens and the
recent addition of a Japanese Garden.
Conservatories and large glasshouses contain exotic species orchids, colourful butterflies
and bougainvilleas. Visitors can also take a botanical stroll through the lime tree walk to the wildlife pond, landscaped with wild flowers and abundant in wildlife.
Afternoon teas are served in the Old Hop Kiln in a sheltered courtyard. Visitors can enjoy delicious locally sourced cakes served with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee
Lower Hope gardens offer easy access for wheelchair users and those with other
disabilities. Every effort has been made to maximise the amount of accessibility in
and around public areas including toilet facilities.

Lower Hope gardens is one of 3,700 gardens that are privately owned across England and Wales that welcome over half a million visitors a year. The NGS has a tradition of opening gardens of quality, character and interest which is supported by the NGS Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales.
Through opening gardens to the public the NGS raise £2 million each year for nursing, caring and gardening charities. Since 1927 they have raised over £45 million (£25 million in the last 10 years).
