Lower Hope Farms is a diverse business consisting of many enterprises. The livestock enterprises include a successful herd of Pedigree Hereford Cattle, a Pedigree Suffolk flock as well as a commercial ewe flock of North Country mules. The ever developing fruit farm consist of strawberries, raspberries, cherries and apples. There is a 320 sow fattening pig unit taking pigs up to bacon weights. The estate also farms a large area of arable land including potatoes which linked to the Countryside Stewardship Schemes to encourages flora and fauna and wildlife. The large area of Woodland consists of broad leaved semi ancient woodland, plantations of conifers and Christmas Trees. The home farm is at Lower Hope, home to the owners Mr & Mrs Richards. There are 5 acres of landscaped gardens with large areas of parkland including a wildlife pond. The gardens are open to the public approximately five times a year, throughout the spring and summer, as part of the National Gardens Scheme. |
